Brief Project Summary:

Farmers in Louisiana have seen an increase in the frequency and severity of potassium deficiencies, especially in regions where potassium nutrition was not a problem. One potential explanation is the continuing increases in yields of both soybean and corn. This study investigates late-season potassium deficiencies and the beneficial use of foliar potassium products in preventing potassium deficiencies in Louisiana. It aims to determine the effects of potassium and phosphorus fertilization on corn and soybean growth, yield and quality and evaluate the differences between fall- and spring-applied phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.
