Brief Project Summary:

This project is designed to develop descriptive analyses on each of the 2008 Food, Conservation and Energy Act (Farm Bill) and to determine the impacts of alternative proposals that would modify the 2008 Act given the prospects of reduced funding for the 2012 legislation. Particular attention will be given to modifications to the price and income safety net of existing programs - direct payments, loan deficiency payments, counter-cyclical payments and ACRE. Special attention will be given to assessing the limitation of existing crop insurance programs for southern agriculture, and alternative proposals to provide revenue assurance.
