From 2007-2009, the soybean checkoff provided funding to evaluate the effect of commercially available soil applied bio-control products to control white mold. All products were to target the sclerotia of the pathogen in the soil. The bio-product Contans WG fully controlled apothecial germination in the greenhouse. Field plot results also showed that Contans WG had the best effect on reducing disease incidence with the effect being more significant if fall applied. With superior performance (when compared to other bio-control products) of Contans WG, we have confidence in now performing on-farm field scale tests.
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
