Diagnosticians at MSU will provide free SCN soil testing for SCN presence and provide grower recommendations for management practices in the event of a positive identification. The overall analysis results will be made accessible to growers through meetings/mailings/etc. indicating counties of concern. In 2007, the free grower submitted SCN sampling and analysis program resulted in nearly 1,000 soil samples being submitted with nearly 50% positive for SCN with 33 counties participating. SCN was detected for the first time in Newaygo County bringing the number of Michigan counties with known SCN infestation to 39.
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
