Progress Of Work

Update:
We finished harvesting 2020 Advanced and Preliminary yield trials (AYT and PYT) with 54 and 98 non-GMO high oleic breeding lines at 6 locations in Michigan, respectively. All yield data has been collected, and the highest yielding lines in each trial will be advanced to the next stage of the breeding program. Furthermore, over 50,000 F2 progeny seeds derived from crosses of non-GMO high oleic parents with high yielding parents were screened to select seeds with high oleic contents using NIRS and over 10,000 progeny seeds were selected and planted in the greenhouse. Seed samples from each of over 3,000 F3 or F4 progeny plants are being tested for fatty acid composition with gas chromatography, we will combine the yield data and quality data to select the suitable lines for the next stage of the breeding program.

Final Project Results

Benefit To Soybean Farmers

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
