The Northeastern United States has quickly become an important market for biodiesel, primarily due to growing market acceptance of Bioheat®, a mixture of biodiesel and conventional diesel fuel that is used to heat homes and commercial buildings. Several states and major municipalities have adopted Bioheat® mandates, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New York State, and New York City. To ensure proper implementation of these policies, NBB needs to employ technical staff in the region. In addition to Bioheat®, the electrical power sector is a growing opportunity for biodiesel. Project Deliverables

We regularly visit with regulators and environmental groups throughout the region to answer questions and provide new information and studies. In 2020, we anticipate being involved in the regulatory process surrounding New York State’s major new climate program. This will increase opportunities for biodiesel and soybean oil in the region, but also NBB’s workload.

We will report progress through quarterly reports and more frequent communication as needed. Progress will be measured by the number of meetings with regulators and environmental groups in the Northeast Region. At least two meetings per month will be scheduled.
