Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) resistant soybean varieties have had an important impact in reducing yield losses in Michigan. However, the overuse of a single form of nematode resistance has led to SCN populations continuing to increase in some locations. Recent research trials at MSU have shown positive results from the use of chicken manure for reducing the quantity of SCN and various other plant-parasitic nematodes in treated soils. Additionally, laboratory studies at MSU have confirmed the finding of the initial field trials and some manure/compost have resulted in excellent control. Still, there are many unknown factors related to optimizing how manure/composts are used and what types...
Data based recommendations for management of Soybean Cyst Nematodes, this includes evaluation of seed treatments, manure soil amendments, and rotations of SCN resistant varieties.
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
