Brief Project Summary:

Each year, around 200 commercial soybean varieties in Michigan Soybean Performance Trials and hundreds of soybean breeding lines are evaluated in field trials in seven to nine locations throughout major soybean production areas in Michigan. In order to plant, manage, and harvest these field trials in time, two field technicians are needed. Every year during the planting and harvesting seasons, the two field technicians had to plant or harvest every non-rainy day including weekends and had to work till late in the evenings to try to get the work done on time. Final Project Results

Updated February 17, 2020:
Progress:
Robert Stoutenburg was hired as a technician to replace John Boyse to help soybean field research in Michigan in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
As expected, he played a critical role in planting and harvesting important field research such as the MI performance trials, the fatty acid trials, natto trials, SDS nursery near Decatur and the white mold nursery at our Mt. Calm Farm.
Robert has committed to stay with us as a full-time field technician in 2020.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
