Brief Project Summary:

Michigan plant about two millions acres of soybean annually with an average annual production value of $1,009.4 million in the past five years. Michigan soybean growers face challenges of diseases and insects such as soybean cyst nematode (SCN), white mold, sudden death syndrome (SDS), and soybean aphids. Using resistant varieties to these diseases or insects is the most economic solutions to these challenges.
Michigan exports soybean and soybean products and competes with competitors in the world markets. Protein and oil contents of the soybean or the soybean products are among the major factors that affect the competitiveness of soybean or the products. Increase the protein and oil contents...

Project Deliverables

Final Project Results

- Over 7,000 breeding lines were tested for yield and other agronomic traits
- 15 lines with high oleic, low linolenic, and low saturated fatty acids were tested in a special fatty acid variety trial at six locations to test their performance against two high yielding checks from Zeeland Farm Service
- 55 lines with high oleic, low linolenic, and low saturated fatty acids were tested in two preliminary yield trials at one or three locations to test their performance against two high yielding checks from Zeeland Farm Service

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
