The objective of this project is to establish genetic transformation products for genetically engineered soybean cultivars planted in South Carolina for enhanced multiple abiotic stress resistance. The researcher hypothesized that transgenic plants are engineered to over-express a rice SUMO E3 ligase (OsSIZI) which will exhibit enhanced resistance to drought, heat and phosphorus deficiency, therefore, leading to new soybean varieties with enhanced performance under environmental stress and improved yield and quality.
