Project Deliverables

Soybean yields in the preliminary studies showed responses to broadcast P fertilizer when the 0-6in soil test P was 4 and 18 ppm. Lack of a response when soil P was 13 ppm is attributed to other factors; for example, average yield was only 24 bu/a. the current study, conducted during a drought, observed a response at only one site, where the soil test was 6ppm. Lack of a response at other sites with soil P less than 20 ppm may be attributed to drought. No difference was observed between banding or broadcasting applications of P. Addition of S or micronutrients did not increase yields above those obtained with no fertilizer or P alone.
