Although the average yield of soybean in the US has increased at a nearly steady rate of 22kg/ha per year since 1924, the yield gains of soybean in the past 2-3 decades were modest due primarily to the low level of genetic diversity in soybean landraces and cultivars. Wild soybean has abundant genetic diversity and thus has great potential for sustained improvement of soybean over the long term. As we face erratic changes in climate and new pathogen pressures, we will increasingly rely on the untapped diversity of wild soybean. To utilize wild soybean germplasm for soybean improvement, a thorough characterization of "elite" traits and genes hidden in wild soybean is needed. The central...
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
