Brief Project Summary:

Limited knowledge for Georgia soybean farmers exists when considering early-planted, indeterminant soybeans for production in South Georgia. The increased interest in elite indeterminant soybean varieties requires a better understanding of two important production considerations: how to manage for seed quality and the proper timing of applying a chemical desiccant, or ‘harvest aid’, to defoliate the indeterminant soybeans at the proper pod development stage for optimum yield.

First, there currently does not exist a clear production guideline for soybean growers in Georgia as to how to manage for top quality in grain (i.e. pod harvest index, protein content, seed weight). There is no standard...

Project Deliverables

Grain samples will be analyzed for protein quality and analyzed against other yield parameters collected. Images taken by the UAS will be stitched, processed, and analyzed to look for identifiable treatment differences and any significant relationships identified that could aid farmers in efficient management related to the studied variables.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
