Brief Project Summary:

This project develops systems and protocols to launch a large-scale implementation of the On-Field Ohio tool. It develops an automated curriculum for agricultural advisors to work with their farmer clientele to evaluate and document reductions in erosion and phosphorus runoff, along with economic costs associated with changes in practices. The objective of On-Field Ohio! is to evaluate and revise the Ohio P Risk Index as needed using field-scale, edge-of-field monitoring facilities. Efforts assist farmers to compare current management practices with alternative management practices for potential reductions in erosion and P runoff and collect information about best management practices.

Key Benefactors:
farmers, agronomists, extension agents

Information And Results
Project Deliverables

1. Identify potential trainers. Establish advisory committee of trainers/farmers and other relevant stakeholders. Hold first advisory committee meeting. Begin developing fillable forms and other project materials.
2. Hold second advisory committee meeting. Discuss project fillable forms including: content, format, language. Get feedback. Begin coding forms as we get agreement.
3. Integrate/finalize economics (custom-rates and machinery costs) into fillable forms design.
Practice run-throughs with draft project materials to establish trainer compensation schedule and finalize project materials.
4. Complete coding/automation of all project materials.
5. Develop finalized curriculum for trainers. Hold third advisory committee meeting.
6. Develop results database and establish data summary and reporting formats.
7. Hold final advisory committee meeting. Show final project materials, plan next steps for large-scale On-Field Ohio implementation. Final project report.
