Brief Project Summary:

This project collaborates with the association to work toward the goal of educating consumers about soybeans and soybean production, through a variety of educational and promotional programming. Work seeks to increase awareness of soybean uses, soybean production and their economic impact. Efforts also include education about biodiesel, soy health benefits, new uses for soy and sustainable soybean production practices used to protect the environment. It also seeks to provide leadership and networking opportunities for Virginia soybean growers.

Project Deliverables

1. Increased awareness of new soy products.
2. Increased participation in leadership and networking activities for soybean producers.
3. Increased awareness of soybean best management and sustainable production methods.
4. Increased awareness and use of biodiesel.
5. Increased number of students and teachers educated about soybean production methods, uses, health benefits, environmental advantages and economic worth of soybeans.
6. Increased communication efforts to producers and consumers about soybean issues.
7. Improvement in consumers' views about soybean growers and production practices.

Final Project Results

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years.
