Brief Project Summary:

This program targets the implementation of the tools of biotechnology to broaden the genetic
diversity of soybean as a means to introduce novel input and output traits into the crop. The
derived transgenic events expressing the targeted traits are subsequently characterized under
greenhouse conditions and selected lead events are monitored for agronomic performance
and maintenance of phenotype of interest. The current traits currently being researched and
developed within this program include, first a novel approach for enhancing photosynthetic
capacity as a means to potentially increase yield and protect yield under stress conditions, and
