Soybean cyst nematode (SCN) is a soil-borne pathogen and readily transported from field to field on any equipment carrying soil. SCN is a major yield-limiting factor for soybean production. This disease has spread to at least 19 soybean-producing counties in North Dakota. Variety resistance is the primary nematode management tactic. SCN is known to be genetically diverse populations and can develop new virulent forms over time due to continuous use of the same source of resistance. PI88788 is the major source of resistance widely used in ND for controlling SCN. However, during the last funding cycle, we found one SCN population from Richland County attacked PI88788, and confirmed one field...
The information of HG types will be added to the SCN distribution map in ND and available to growers. This information is important to help growers select the resistant varieties for controlling the nematode disease to increase soybean yield.
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
