Project Deliverables

• The existing high protein, non-GMO soybean lines are being seed increased and will be delivered to our collaborators by December 2017. By that time, additional lines will be identified.
• The forward genetic screening will lead to the identification of more non-GMO soybean lines with high seed protein content; the number and identity of the lines will be reported by December 2017. Those lines will represent a new sources of genetic variation for protein concentration and will be available to collaborators
• The analysis of the identified lines with genetic variation for protein concentration through induced mutagenesis will lead to the identification and characterization of the genes/loci involved in increasing protein content
• Crosses between high protein and high oil lines may produce lines combining both characteristics through allele combination. Those lines will be available for further evaluation and for crossing into elite cultivars and high-yielding lines.
