An important parameter of the Ohio P Index is fertilizer/manure placement method. This work intends to be complementary and to accelerate the evaluation and revision of how the fertilizer placement factor is weighted and scored, which will contribute to the ongoing effort to evaluate and revise the Ohio P Index. Research aims to evaluate differences in surface runoff of phosphorus, nitrogen and suspended sediment based on fertilizer placement methods across varying P sources, including both liquid and dry fertilizer and manure, and levels of residue cover.Key Benefactors: farmers, agronomists, extension agents
1) number of runoff plots run, 2) types and combinations of independent variables evaluated, 3) results of final statistical analysis comparing fertilizer placement methods, 4) Revision of fertilizer placement method factor in Ohio P Index.
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
