This continuing project is to validate the concept that genetic resistance plays an important role in the development and implementation of management practices directed at the control of soybean aphids and associated viruses. Soybean varieties with aphid resistance will soon be available to soybean producers. Their availability will bring questions related to the efficacy and durability of the sources of aphid resistance being used by commercial soybean breeders. Other questions such as: Can genetic resistance levels increase soybean yields as much as the use of insecticides? Are there soybean aphid biotypes in Wisconsin that will defeat current sources of genetic resistance? Will...
