Project Deliverables

The goal of this project is to evaluate genetic strategies to increase total oil content of soybean to greater than 30%. To this end we are testing two approaches to perturb carbon flow in developing soybean seeds as a means to enhance the oil/protein ratio in mature seed. In addition we will characterize transgenic soybeans that possess a four gene stack for the production of the very-long chain omega-3 fatty acid, EPA and a separate three gene stack in transgenic soybean for the production of the carotenoid, astaxanthin.

Final Project Results

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
