This project is to continue the aggressive early detection program for Asian soybean rust (ASR) in Tennessee. The research group proposes to continue using a sensitive real-tT3348:T3356ime PCR assay that can reliably detect the presence of ASR in leaf tissue 1 to 3 days following infection. This test has been rigorously tested in controlled studies with the United States Department of Agriculture. Detection of ASR at an early stage will give producers a useful window of time to make decisions concerning chemical control.
