The purpose of these experiments was to evaluate herbicide activity on Roundup Ready canola applied pre-emerge (PRE), and post-emerge (POST) at the 3.2 and 4.1 growth stage. Growers have adopted the Roundup Ready (RR) crop technology to manage weeds with glyphosate, while maintaining crop safety. Without the incorporation of additional herbicides in a given cropping system, volunteer RR crops can provide additional weed management issues. Data has indicated that volunteer RR canola can be controlled at earlier stages, but at advanced stages, control becomes more difficult. Final Project Results

ALS herbicide (Group 2) mechanism of action herbicides and metribuzin either applied alone or in combination gave good to excellent canola control. These herbicides include: SureStart flumetulam), Authority Assist (sulfentrazone imazethapyr), Authority MTZ (metribuzin), Boundry (metribuzin), and Gangster FirstRate, Resolve, DPX 1-2-1, and Instigate.

In addition, Zidua at rates greater than 4 ounces per acre and Fierce (Valor + Zidua) also gave complete control of canola.

Herbicides that were ineffective in canola control were: Sharpen, Broadaxe, Valor, 2,4-D, dicamba, and Camix. This information will help soybean growers obtain adequate and season-long control of volunteer that may emerge in their soybean fields.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years.
