Shifts in soybean cyst nematode (SCN) virulence are reported in other states. The standard assessment of SCN virulence, commonly referred to as SCN HG type, is done by comparing the reproduction of a SCN population being tested to soybeans with known resistance genes and to a susceptible line with no resistance genes.
This basic information is needed to alert Nebraska soybean growers to the HG types of SCN populations in Nebraska and to allow them to select soybean varieties with specific genetics resistance to overcome these native SCN populations.
