This research project is aimed at improving the overall compositional value of soybean seed. Increasing the sulfur-containing amino acids will directly impact swine and poultry nutritional needs, as well as human nutrition. Increasing sulfur accumulation would also likely increase selenium levels since both minerals are transported and assimilated by biochemical pathway in the soybean seed. The nutritional benefits of increased methionine, cysteine and selenium would be welcomed by the animal and poultry nutritionist.
