Brief Project Summary:

This project is designed to provide clues on how past yield increases were achieved. Soybean breeders have increased soybean yields dramatically over the last 86 years, but we have a poor understanding of how selection has changed the soybean plants. The goal of this project is to identify ways soybean breeders can be more efficient in improving soybean yields in the future.

The objective of this proposal is to evaluate nearly 60 MG III varieties that have been instrumental for increasing yield in the soybean breeding industry over the last 80+ years.
