This project investigates the basic causes of poor seed quality in maturity group 4 and 5 soybeans. Efforts aim determine the specific fungal complexes responsible for infecting soybean plants in the different environments, the pathogenicity of these fungal complexes, whether plant nutrition status is correlated with seed rot the specific environmental conditions that promote seed rot in soybeans and the strategies involving fungicide/insecticide applications and application timing that can be used to reduce the impact of seed rot on harvest seed quality of soybeans when certain environmental conditions are anticipated.
