Brief Project Summary:

This is the second year of a very basic research study that makes use of the plant, Arabidopsis thaliana, to identify genes that control seed yield and composition (protein, oil, size & sugar). This plant produces oilseed similar to soybean, but has a much simpler genome. A number of promising genes have been identified. This project is designed to identify similar genes in soybeans and develop molecular markers to facilitate marker-assisted breeding programs.
