Research to evaluate the efficacy and crop safety of experimental herbicides will continue with this project. It’s important to determine the fit for new herbicides that may be labeled for soybeans because weed populations and environmental conditions differ. The project also addresses the growing concern over herbicide-resistant weeds. This base program will provide Louisiana soybean farmers the latest information on weed control and weed management. Efforts evaluate new herbicides when applied preemergence and post emergence for both weed control and soybean injury, develop and disseminate weed control programs compatible with soils, weed problems and cropping systems, evaluate herbicide-technologies and associated herbicides for weed control and non-target crop response and identify herbicide-resistant weeds and alternative control methods.
