Brief Project Summary:

Nutrient availability is highest when fertilizer is applied just prior to soybean needs. However, particularly under the double crop system, fertilizer is usually applied before wheat for both crops.

Final Project Results

Band-applied fertilizer application increased yield. Soil-applied fertilizers S, Mn, and Zn showed slight but significant yield responses across all locations. Similar yield tendencies were found for Fe, but they were not statistically significant Foliar fertilizer significantly decreased yield across locations. This may have been caused by leaf damage from foliar fertilizer application. Although it was not statistically significant, there was a numeric decrease in tissue Mn and Zn concentrations, however this did not affect yield.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
