Brief Project Summary:

The goal of the research project is to identify and map new genes that are resistance to SCN. The researchers will identify and map the exact location of the QTLs for resistance to SCN Hg-type 2.5.7 (Race 5). Then they will use DNA markers to speed up the selection and release of soybean lines with increased resistance to SCN Hg-type 2.5.7. This is a perfect timing, since there are many reports of Hg-type 2.5.7 taking over Hg-type 0 in the Midwest.

The research team is extending their efforts to develop new additional sources of resistance to SCN, using four soybean population that were already characterized for yield, protein, oil and SDS and Phytophtora resistance with an ultimate...
