Brief Project Summary:

Cotton growers with failed stands resulting from dry weather, herbicide injury, hail, etc. would prefer having the option to replant soybeans. Unfortunately, many residual herbicides used in cotton have prohibitive rotation restrictions for soybeans. Little information about the effects of diuron on soybeans grown in sand or loamy sand soil types has been published. The current rotational restriction for soybeans following an application of diuron is 1 year. This study will to evaluate the effects of preemergence applications of diuron (Direx 4L) on soybean growth and yield. Data collected will include crop response (stand, height, injury) and yield.
