Brief Project Summary:

Soybean vein necrosis disease is a newly discovered virus-induced disease of soybean. It is caused by Soybean vein necrosis-associated virus (SVNaV), which is the first Tospovirus reported to infect soybean. Very little is understood about the impact of SYNaV on soybean yield or about the ecology of the virus in the upper Midwest. Greenhouse and field trials will be established to investigate the impact of SVNaV on soybean yield and quality. The seasonal sequence of thrips species to colonize soybean will also be determined in order to more accurately define periods when virus spread occurs. Various management strategies directed at thrips vectors of SYNaV will also be evaluated in the field...
