Information And Results
Project Deliverables

• Begin transfer of wild soybean genomes from 35 diverse USDA accessions to adapted soybean breeding lines by growing large-scale breeding populations and selecting upright plants in NC, MO, and IL.
• Using DNA marker data collected in a previously funded USB project, complete a core and minicore collection of wild soybean accessions in the USDA Soybean Germplasm Collection that was initiated in 2012. Core and mini-core collections are representative subsets of the larger USDA collection of 1200 wild soybean types and will be used to finalize parental selections for this project.
• Initiate a whole-genomic analysis of all wild soybean and cultivated parental stock used in this project. The genome analysis will enhance the utility of USB products in applied breeding.
• Initiate a morphological/biochemical evaluation of plant and seed traits for all wild soybean stock in this study plus the reference wild soybean minicore Collection.
• Begin refinements of breeding protocols to streamline the genome transfer process. This objective will be addressed in the Midwest and South.

Final Project Results

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
