1. The effort will build on progeny from a cross between a high germinability x WUE cross made in 2011.

2. We propose to (i) characterize mechanisms underlying the previously identified promising genotypes for high germinability and reproductive success under heat stress, and (ii) quantify the impact of stress on yield and physiological traits including germinability, reproductive success, and photosynthesis and respiration (Objective 3).

3.Experiments will be conducted under field and controlled conditions. In Missouri, soybeans will be grown under field conditions in a rain-out shelter facility that also doubles as a heat tent. In addition, greenhouse and growth chamber experiments will be conducted to provide more control over temperature conditions.

Final Project Results

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years.
