Brief Project Summary:

The project involves collecting field data to validate and calibrate a soybean growth model. The proposed model will estimate the main vegetative and reproductive stages of the soybean cultivars used in the region. Growth stages will be displayed graphically, indicating calendar dates for the initiation of the stages of development, having the capacity to forecast future events under selected weather scenarios. Using this phenology model, the crop weather program will be enhanced for the agronomic management and irrigation scheduling. Grower workshops will be scheduled to explain how the model can be used to improve the management of the soybean crop in the upper Texas Gulf Coast.
