This project was planned to acquire critical knowledge about the SCN infection process and the associated modification in the DNA and DNA-associated proteins of soybean in susceptible and resistant interactions. Genes with crucial roles in mediating plant susceptibility/resistance are known to be tightly controlled and that epigenetic modification of the DNA or its associated proteins is one of the most powerful mechanisms controlling gene expression and function. However, epigenetic control of gene expression in soybean is completely unknown.
