Brief Project Summary:

Numerous viruses infect soybean plants and cause significant yield losses to soybean. With previous supports from Ohio Soybean Council, we have succeeded in controlling three major viruses with transgenic plants that confer RNA interference (RNAi)-mediated resistance. We are now in a strong position to expand our transgenic approach to target other soybean-infecting viruses. As a key step towards this goal, we propose to launch an extensive field survey to uncover all viruses that pose potential threats to Ohio soybean production.
