This project seeks to evaluate the effect on yield reduction in soybeans resulting from incremental insect defoliation during vegetative and reproductive development, and to determine influence of irrigation on soybean yield loss from insect defoliation. The work supports refinement of treatment thresholds that take into account the incremental foliage losses in soybean that result from multiple defoliation events caused by multiple insect pests during the growing season, and that are based on dryland vs. irrigated production systems.
