The idea of variable rate planting in soybeans may allow farmers to fine tune their plant populations based on management zones within a field. The objective is to determine if utilizing technology to vary the soybean seeding rate across soil management zones will increase yields and/or profitability. Variable rate application will be compared to standard, high, and low seeding rates. The data will be analyzed by management zones to further determine optimum seeding rates per zone. Another objective is to determine what yield components are being altered when variable rate application soybean seeding is done. An economic analysis will be done to determine the most profitable approach to...
Recommendations for the most profitable approach to soybean seeding rates.
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
