Brief Project Summary:

This continuing project will address the question can soil management be used to increase soybean yield and protein quality in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. In 2013, a survey of soybean fields in Maryland was conducted in growing areas most likely to be low in sulfur. Soybean leaf samples were analyzed for total nitrogen and sulfur and most of the leaves were found to have N/S/ rations of greater than 18, suggesting sulfur deficiency. This survey will be continued in 2014 and expanded to include soil samples.
