The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) is a membership supported 501c3 nonprofit organization comprised of scientific societies, universities, nonprofit organizations, companies and many individuals. CAST’s mission is that through its network of experts, assembles, interprets and communicated credible, unbiased science-based information about food, agriculture and natural resources. The funds provided through this grant will enable CAST to continue and expand it science communications efforts and include topics that align with research priorities of the United Soybean Board. In addition, as a part of this grant, CAST will continue to monitor and report on the impact on publications released within the past years. As additional topics for CAST papers are developed over the next year, those that align with USB priorities will be added to this list for development. CAST will also work on repurposing of new and recently released CAST papers into educational resources for teachers and students related to agricultural science, technology and innovations. As part of its annual meeting, the CAST Board of Representatives work groups met to develop their work plans for 2023 including what specific new topics for forthcoming CAST publications. Also at that meeting, a number of proposals that were under development this past year advanced to the CAST Board of Directors for approval. Once approved, these topics will be added to our publications in progress list and CAST will begin tracking and reporting on those of that align with USB research/science priorities.

Benefit To Soybean Farmers

CAST strives to be a trusted source for key stakeholders on science related topics. Its work to communicate the science, technology and innovation related to food, agriculture and the environment benefits US soybean farmers by helping to insure they have access to tools and innovative technologies that allow them to produce their crops efficiently. CAST publications are created to help key stakeholder groups, often not familiar with modern production agriculture understand how these technologies are developed, used by producers, and governed to insure a save, efficient and highly productive food system.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
