Qualified State Soybean Boards (QSSB) - The total WISHH budget for fiscal year 2019 is $7.03 million with QSSB base funding making up $956,000 of that total. Brief Project Summary:

The WISHH Program operates in seventeen countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Central America. Commercial market development strategies are increasing soy trade between the U.S. and emerging markets because of WISHH’s approach of identifying and working with most committed and influential local companies who manufacture and sell food and/or feed in WISHH targeted countries. WISHH continues to work closely with local supply chain partners in WISHH target regions to help these businesses develop markets, create new products, improve business practices, and become long-term importers of U.S. soy.

Project Deliverables

Evaluation of cost/benefit will be achieved through tracking the following key performance indicators and targets:
- Of the seven (7) companies currently utilizing U.S. soy in their commercial products in targeted African countries, three (3) will report increased sales volumes.
- Two (2) Asian companies will plan to use value-added soy products or U.S. whole soybeans in their manufacturing process.
- At least one (1) WISHH partner in Central America will deliver U.S. soy-based products to regional government programs.
- At least 75% of surveyed global participants will understand the value of using soy as a functional ingredient and will recognize potential for increased product yield and profits.
- At least six (6) companies globally will be committed to further research and development related to inclusion of soy as a functional ingredient.
- Submit at least $10 million in funding applications for non-soybean checkoff resources.
