Project Summary

The Atlantic Soybean Council works to identify gaps and duplications in soybeanresearch in Virginia, Maryland,
Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and the Eastern Region. Oncethese gaps and duplications areidentified, synergies among researchers arecreated and limited checkoff funding is leveraged for maximum impact.Additionally, with guidance from it's Directors and member state's executives, the Atlantic Soybean Council is working to increase efficiencies in the Mid-Atlantic region by combining resources to represent it's member QSSBs throughmembership in the U.S. Soybean Research Collaborative (USSRC) and submittinga regional proposal for Farmers for Soil Health Climate Smart CommoditiesPartnership.

Project Objectives

1. To identify gaps and eliminate duplications or replications in soybean research.
2. To bring researchers and producers together to identify areas where multistate research can be beneficial.
3. To improve leveraging of checkoff research investments.
4. To ensure that key regional research needs are effectively addressed.
5. To maximize the profitability of Mid-Atlantic soybean growers.

Project Deliverables

1. The number of duplicate research projects will be limited.
2. Gaps in current research projects will be identified.
3. Research projects will be prioritized.
4. Regional checkoff research activities with input from land grant universities,USDA-ARS, and commercial agricultural companies will be supported.
5. Valuable soybean research results to benefit Mid-Atlantic soybean farmers willbe provided.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
