Project Summary

The NCSRP evaluates projects that have a regional impact and involve both basic and applied research. The QSSBs contribute to the funding pool and studies are decided upon by the farmer board. The NCSRP emphasizes return on investment, the elimination of research redundancy, and a clear sense of urgency in generating and communicating research results.

Project Objectives

• To identify and solve breeding challenges, manage disease, insect pest, abiotic stressors and weed issues, and optimize management and production to impact soybean yield and quality.

• To promote collaborative research and prevent unnecessary duplication of research through leadership that facilitates and coordinates multi-state, cross-functional research teams that identify unique short- and long-term research objectives providing solutions to problems facing soybean production and quickly communicating results from NCSRP-funded research to soybean producers.

• Leverage and maximize return on member-state research dollars with funds from other states, the United Soybean Board, federal funding agencies and private companies.

Project Deliverables

When funded, the research and outreach work accomplished by this program positively impacts, complements and extends many of the member states’ goals and objectives through enhanced and accelerated state and regional breeding, production and environmental programs, soybean management and cropping systems, best management practices, breeding for increased yield potential and quality, and basic and applied studies directed at crop protection and pest management of diseases, insects, abiotic stressors and weeds.

Benefit To Soybean Farmers

Relevant and high priority production research programs contribute to soybean demand and market development by ensuring that US soybeans are always the highest yielding, highest quality and most reliable source of plant-derived protein and oil for a diverse global market.

Meaningful scientific advancements, new and novel information, and improved agronomic, disease and insect management guidelines are communicated and published. Research and other important topics and issues related to soybeans and soybean production are communicated through project updates, executive summaries of research results, production practices and agronomic information, videos, images and articles, and the annual NCSRP report.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
