Progress Of Work

Update:
Southern Test (Anne Gillen):
1. Two trials (PIV-S-E and UIV-S-E) in Mississippi were harvested very late due to COVID restrictions and tropical storms. The data was not valid due to shatter and extremely poor seed quality. One trial was lost due to error at planting. I will report data on the remaining 4 trials.
2. Seed samples for seed composition analysis from the Stoneville location were processed late due to COVID restrictions. They were sent to collaborators for analysis before December 14.
3. Seed quality data for Stoneville has not been completed due to COVID restrictions and retirement of Gary Shelton. I am not sure if I will have time to do this.
4. Anne Gillen has received field data from some of the collaborators and is waiting for the remaining field data and the results of seed analysis.
5. Stem canker testing at Stoneville, MS was a success this year. The data has not been formatted for the annual report yet.

Northern Test (Guohong Cai):
1. Fall data collection protocol, data reporting sheets, new variety release forms, and seed composition sampling instructions were sent to Uniform Trial cooperators (10/7).
2. All field notes were taken, and Uniform Trial harvest was completed for Wanatah, IN (10/9) and West Lafayette, IN (11/3).
3. Seed weight and quality sampling was completed for Wanatah, IN (10/30) and West Lafayette, IN (11/18).
4. Uniform Trial seed samples for protein and oil analysis were sent to Dr. Steve Cermak’s USDA-ARS lab in Peoria, IL (Wanatah on 10/30, West Lafayette PT on 11/12, and West Lafayette UT 11/18).
5. All selected Uniform Trial seed samples for fatty acid analysis from our IN locations were sent to Dr. Pengyin Chen’s lab at the University of Missouri – Delta Center (11/17).
6. All selected Uniform Trial seed samples for sugar analysis from our IN locations were sent Dr. Bo Zhang’s lab at Virginia Tech (11/17).
7. All harvest data from Wanatah, IN and West Lafayette, IN has been analyzed and added to the regional data summary (12/4).
8. Uniform Trial harvest data has been reported and compiled for approximately 43% of Uniform trial locations (20 out of 47 cooperating locations as of 12/4).
9. Phytophthora sojae screening was completed on time.
10. Uniform Trial harvest data has been reported and compiled for approximately 43% of Uniform trial locations (20 out of 47 cooperating locations as of 12/4).

Final Project Results

Benefit To Soybean Farmers

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
