Brief Project Summary:

This breeding project intends to aggressively target soybean cyst nematode, charcoal rot and frogeye leaf spot resistance research. Yield losses due to SCN alone averages 10% per acre and combined losses due to SCN, charcoal and FLS are in excess of 20% per are in Tennessee. Currently, soybean cultivars with combined resistance to these issues are not readily available. This program has identified unique sources of resistance and crossed them with elite soybean lines. The progenies are being advanced in-field for selection of desirable lines having resistance to all three diseases. Concurrently, this research also uses greenhouse screenings for these diseases for confirmation of resistance in the selected lines.
