Brief Project Summary:

Increasing soybean yields under optimal and stress environments is a strategic goal to Minnesota growers and to the industry in general. Despite major progress in breeding and genetics, there is currently a phenotyping bottleneck that needs to be overcome to identify novel, yield-boosting traits under various environments. Recently, we have assembled evidence indicating that maximizing whole-plant canopy conductance allows for increasing yield potential by maximizing the amount of CO2, nutrients and potentially N-fixation by the plant.
