Brief Project Summary:

We develop more than 20,000 new lines each year over all breeding objectives, and those are evaluated and selected through multiple stages and years of testing. Major objectives include improved yield and compositional quality, and improved tolerance to stresses including IDC, drought, and multiple disease and insect pests. Germplasm from our breeding program consistently ranks at the top of the USDA regional performance trials that are conducted throughout the north central region in collaboration with other university and USDA programs. New soybean cultivars are available to soybean producers, and are also used as parents in breeding programs at other USDA, university, and commercial programs...

Project Deliverables

(1) increase the overall value of Nebraska soybeans through research and development for improved compositional quality,
(2)increase the average yield of Nebraska soybeans through a state-of-the art, comprehensive, and efficient soybean breeding program to increase yield per se, and through reducing yield losses from diseases and insects, and this project will
(3) increase industrial demand for soybeans (high-protein soybeans, high oil soybeans, and modified fatty acid composition for specific industrial or food uses) that will provide improved processing efficiencies and/or opportunities for new products.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
