Update:
Reporting period: 10.01.17 to 09.30.2018
Objective 1: Develop and distribute information on emerging and important soybean diseases
• Create awareness of emerging diseases and update current disease management recommendations based on the latest research
• Create at least two publications per year on new and emerging disease issues
Accomplishments toward objective during reporting period:
• Created a new Crop Protection Network webpage with updated functionality and resources at https://cropprotectionnetwork.org/. Resources include social media post compilation from multiple partners onto one resource, ability to post feature articles, an encyclopedia of information and images for 30 soybean diseases, and a library of crop protection publications. The disease encyclopedia is sortable by crop, where symptoms appear on the plant, and most likely time of appearance, allowing users to narrow down the most probable disease issue. This webpage also includes sponsor information and directs viewers towards sponsor webpage https://cropprotectionnetwork.org/sponsors/. In the first two months of being live, the new website had over 3,000 publication downloads from its library of PDF resources, with more PDF resources continually being added. During this reporting period, the new website and its predecessor website (replaced in late January 2018) had 29,598 page views, 11,307 users, and 14,178 sessions.
• We also created two slide sets highlighting research from two NCSRP projects – management of sudden death syndrome and white mold. These slide sets were sent to colleagues involved in each project and used at winter meetings.
• Information was disseminated through multiple channels to stakeholders, including field days, extension articles, in-person interactions, and electronic media and communications during the 2018 soybean growing season.
Objective 2: Continue to work with Soybean Research and Information Initiative (SRII) to improve soybean disease content on the website
• Update and revise the SRII website to host most current information about soybean diseases, and insect and agronomic issues
Accomplishments toward objective during reporting period:
• SRII was updated with the most current versions of Crop Protection Network publications on integrated soybean production.
• Two press releases were released through SRII to highlight new publications on soybean variety selection and soybean seed treatments.
Objective 3: Incorporate/develop agronomic and insect pest information into new and existing publications and the SRII website
• Create at least one publication per year on an integrated soybean production issue
Accomplishments toward objective during reporting period:
Released two publications on integrated soybean production issues in February 2018.
• Conley, S., Bradley, C., Chilvers, M., Giesler, L., Mueller, D., Sikora, E., Smith, D., Tenuta, A., Tilmon, K., and Wise, K. 2018. Considerations for selecting soybean varieties. Crop Protection Network: CPN 4004. https://cropprotectionnetwork.org/download/5210/

One of the primary outputs for this project was the Crop Protection Network webpage and associated content (cropprotectionnetwork.org), where publications are housed and the encyclopedia function (https://cropprotectionnetwork.org/encyclopedia/) is housed. Content includes social media post compilation from multiple partners onto one resource, ability to post feature articles, a publication library, and an encyclopedia of information and images for 30 soybean diseases, and a library of crop protection publications.
The Soybean Research Information Initiative (SRII) was updated with the most current versions of Crop Protection Network publications on integrated soybean production and press releases were released through SRII to highlight new publications on soybean variety selection and soybean seed treatments. Publications were posted to state extension stores such as the Iowa State University Extension Online Store and the Purdue University Extension Education Store. Information was disseminated through multiple channels to stakeholders, including field days, extension articles, in-person interactions, and electronic media and communications during the duration of this grant. These actions helped to make resources available for stakeholders through multiple venues and increasing accessibility to soybean scouting and decision-making tools.
